FREE PREGNANCY TESTS

Like most other pregnancy support centers, Silent Voices will provide - at no charge - one of the most sensitive pregnancy tests available to anyone who comes to our office for an appointment. We do not mail tests. The test is most accurate when the woman has missed her period by 2-3 days, and when using a first morning urine specimen. Appointments may be made by calling 619-422-0757.

If you live outside San Diego County, we can refer you to a pregnancy support center almost anywhere in the United States, and even some places around the world. If you'd like a referral, you can e-mail us with the city and state in which you live, and we'll get back to you with a referral to a center nearest you.

Consider this: These tests can cost as much as $15 - a pregnancy support center can provide the test for free! · If the test is negative, it hasn't cost you anything but time! · If your test is positive, and you have questions about your options and/or where you can obtain prenatal care, pregnancy support centers are prepared to help you with education and referrals to pro-life physicians.

COUNSELLING AND SUPPORT

Silent Voices provides peer counseling and support to pregnant women seeking help with an unplanned or "crisis" pregnancy. Many of our counselors have experienced unplanned or "crisis" pregnancies themselves, so they know the fears and anxieties of being pregnant at the "wrong" time. Our peer counselors have been trained to be sensitive, compassionate, caring and non-judgemental. Clients are able to share how they feel, and ask questions in a loving and nurturing environment. We also provide practical support, such as maternity and baby clothing, as well as emotional support throughout the pregnancy. We do our best to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of every client - if we aren't able to meet a specific need, we do our best to find a referral to someone who can!

Think about this:

When facing an unplanned or "crisis" pregnancy, our clients are often confused about how they feel and what they want. They often feel pressured by others to have an abortion, and feel helpless without their support. We provide answers to their questions, as well as a loving support system throughout their pregnancies.

All of our services are confidential - we respect every client's need for privacy.

Should our clients choose abortion, they know where they can get help if they need to talk about their abortion experience and/or how they feel. They know we care about them - no matter what choice they make.

PREGNANCY AND ABORTION EDUCATION

Silent Voices can provide factual information and education about issues related to sex, pregnancy, and abortion (i.e. fetal development, abortion procedures, the possible risks and complications of abortion, abortion and the Bible, abortion alternatives, etc). Our resources include literature and videos with the most current information available about abortion, pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Our clients determine what - if any - information/education they receive.

More to consider:

Our pregnant clients are able to learn about all of their options before making a  decision , enabling them to make an informed choice.

Many of our clients don't feel they have anyone to talk to about sex, birth control, etc. - we provide them with a place to ask questions and talk about their sexuality.

"For the first time I feel like someone cares. I wish someone had been there for me when I got pregnant the first time - I wouldn't have had an abortion."
- Quote from a client.

POST ABORTION SUPPORT GROUPS

Silent Voices provides counseling and support to women who have already made the choice to have an abortion, and who are struggling with ambivalent feelings regarding that choice. Our support groups are held over an entire weekend, rather than sessions held over 8-12 weeks.

The women who attend understand that the materials used are based upon the assumption that a personal relationship with God - through Jesus - is necessary to be assured of His forgiveness. However, women from any/no religious backgrounds are more than welcome to participate. The women who have participated in our support groups have experienced tremendous healing and forgiveness, and have truly been "set free" from the pain and guilt of their abortions!

"When I had my abortion I thought, 'I can walk away from this - I can hide this whole situation, and go on with my life.' But I couldn't go on with my life - in fact, after my abortion, life wasn't worth living as far as I was concerned. After the support group, though, all of that changed. I was able to face my feelings and deal with my unresolved anger. I was able to let people get close to me - to let down the barriers I'd erected to protect myself. It was revolutionary!"
- Quote from a client.

In addition to leading groups in San Diego, Silent Voices has traveled nationally and internationally to lead workshops and train group leaders. We have produced two videos that are available for purchase. One describes our program, including interviews with women who have participated in one of our groups. The other is a step-by-step training tape that teaches a basic understanding of Post Abortion Syndrome and the healing process. It is accompanied by a study guide.

Consider these points:

Women who struggle with ambivalent feelings after their abortion - or who feel guilty and depressed over their choice - often feel that no one will listen to them, and they may not believe that anyone else understands what they are going through. Silent Voices understands, and provides a safe place for them to talk about how they feel.

Our program offers women hope and assurance that they can be forgiven, and, that with the help of God, they can overcome the negative, self-defeating and/or self-punishing behaviors/attitudes that have developed as a result of their abortions.

Our training materials and experienced personnel can equip other ministries to provide help to women living outside San Diego County!

If you have had an abortion, and need help, we will do our best to find a support group meeting in your area. Click here and let us know where you live (city and state) and we'll send you information on groups in your area. If you live in a small town, please include names of larger cities close to you. Or - you might consider coming to San Diego to attend one of our groups- we have women that come from out of town! We can provide you with a place to stay-at no charge-for the weekend you're with us.
